2006 Dufour 34

Ipswich, Suffolk, United Kingdom

£50,000

Thistle Dhu (Thistle - emblem of Scotland, Dhu - dark or hidden) is a much loved and well maintained one owner yacht, purchased new in 2006. Offering fantastic value with 6 berths in two cabins plus saloon the 34 shows good speed and the Umberto Felci design is rated Category A. She was appointed European Boat of the Year when launched and commended for her storage and options, of which many were selected when new.

With her East Coast friendly keel she also suits the canals of Holland and Belgium for those venturing overseas. An oversized holding tank makes the canals a breeze.

She carries the upgraded diesel engine from Volvo and is the later D1-30 generation giving a maximum speed of nearly 8 knots through a Gori folding propeller on her sail-drive.

She was a well-specified boat from new including the larger engine, upgraded winches, adjustable Genoa cars, larger Genoa and 2 reefs in mainsail, electric windless and full electronics package with larger chart plotter and diesel heating to all spaces including the heads. She additionally boasts some further upgrades like the extended inner berth in the aft cabin, AIS, 240V heater for drying oilskins and USB sockets in strategic places.

Every year she has been out of the water with dehumidifier and heating. The interior reflects this and her engine has run beautifully on account of the annual service carried out by the owner with wearing items replaced as a matter of course.

The antifoul has been abraded prior to reapplying each year and the hull is as would be expected. She appears a tidy, well loved and cared for yacht.

A portable cradle and dinghy may be available by separate negotiation.

Manufacturer Provided Description

in 2006 Dufour commented:

Continuing the combination which made the Dufour 40 a success, the Dufour 34 is focused on all its qualities: speed on all points of sailing, stability and manoeuvrability, good-looking and practical interior layout. A new benchmark has been created among 34-foot fast cruisers. Sailing a Dufour 34 is a pleasure you have to share with a crew, although this yacht is so easy to handle, one would wish to take to sea single handed.
