This fantastic Sweden Yachts 50 European benefits from being owned by a fastidious Naval Architect who has master-minded an excellent refit over the last 3 years culminating in a survey confirming the structural and systems condition of this updated and superior yacht. A copy of the survey and an Owner's video of the yacht are available for serious enquirers.
With trips under her belt including the ARC 2004 where she achieved 3rd in class and remained in the Caribbean for an extended period with the owner and family. Then returning to Scotland, Portugal and subsequently, back to the UK under present ownership.
The GRP work by the renowned White Formula Ltd of Brightlingsea included strengthening the deck in excess of the original build (further details are available) and dropping the keel to inspect the bolts. Replacement of the keel washers with extra thick washers and re-bedding of the keel to ensure her structural integrity for years to come. This was all in addition to replacement of hoses and pumps as necessary.
Upgrades Include:
New standing rigging,
New running rigging;
New Main sail and a new Yankee sail (a high-clew Genoa for serious off-shore cruising);
New 110hp Yanmar engine (replacing the original 65hp) which has just had its first service (Note: the higher-power engine became standard from 1992 onwards which helps for transit passages under power),
New Gearbox, driveshaft and 4 blade feather stream propeller - all with about 25 hours use.
New Flex teak decking to the 'ring deck' (everything except the cockpit and its surrounding area)
New skin fittings below the waterline;
Twelve new keel-bolts for the 6.5-ton wing-design keel that helps not only to maximise access to shoal areas and sheltered marinas by drawing only 2.1 metres but to improve overall efficiency.
New hatches;
New port-lights;
Updates to some Navigation equipment;
Plus many detailed improvements inside the cabins such as new: curtains, taps, carpets, cushions, etc.
Sweden Yachts are renowned for making well-built cruiser racers with excellent seaworthiness and are proven 'blue-water' yachts. They comfortably hold their own against Najads, Hallberg Rasseys, Malos and Swan Yachts to name a few in the upper luxury bracket and have an enviable reputation amongst knowledgeable offshore sailors.
What makes this exceptional is that they only made 19 of these 50-footers and not all were shoal keel. This example is a proven blue-water cruiser having covered many miles to date.
Designed and built to Lloyd's Specification, this Sweden Yachts 50 has three double sleeping cabins, plus the sofa/pilot berth specification in the main cabin, plus an optional full-length berth in one of the aft cabins thus eight adult berths in total, all with lee cloths.
There is a large central main saloon with well-planned galley and dining area for eight on the port side and the navigation and command console on the starboard side (plus the sofa which can become the pilot berth).
A copy of the detailed survey dated April 2023 - plus an extended video taken by the Owner - are available upon request.
